Saturday: 14/03/2026 at 10:30
The Victorian blue-brick grandeur of Sandfields Pumping Station will open its doors once again. Were inviting all interested in finding out more about the wonders of the Pumping Station to step inside a place where clean water first transformed daily life for working people.
Throughout the day, the pumping station will hum with activity. Families with young children can enjoy free creative art sessions, where little hands colour outlines of the historic Pumping Station, decorate with stickers, or craft simple engineering-inspired creations. Older children can immerse themselves in hands-on filtration, microscope, and cog experiments.
Visitors can join guided tours (prebook via EventBrite) of the magnificent Beam Engine House
A lively selection of traditional fundraising games—including Guess the Weight of the Spanner—will offer fun challenges for all ages, while book-lovers can browse a pre-loved Book Stall in search of hidden treasures.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day, providing a moment to pause and enjoy the atmosphere of this remarkable site.
