Freeing off the valve gear on the Cornish Beam Engine. There was a rumour that the inlet valve from Sandfields was taken out and used on the Cornish Engine at Mores Gorse Pumping Station. Mores Gorse Cornish Engine was lost in the late 60’s so it would have been a pain to make a new one. Fortunately, the rumour was not true and the valve is in place. There is quite a lot of corrosion on the vale stem possibly caused by the packing being left in.
The engineers have a plan to fix this. It's quite exciting that they will be using some very traditional skills from the past to restore this object for the future generations.
